Amanda Williams, self portrait in graphite

Amanda Williams is artist living and working in the Chittering Valley, a beautiful rural area just north of Perth in Western Australia.

Multi-skilled and talented, Amanda refuses to be nailed down to any particular medium - sculpture, printmaking or paint. Any given idea "takes what it takes". Some favourite motifs have been pursued in series and expressed in different media - painted, sculptured or printed from woodcut plates - the whole coming together to form a cohesive body of work.

After a long career in graphic design in the commercial print industry she returned to art college to pursue ceramics to more than a hobby level  - much to her surprise she  discovered printmaking. While her initial reaction to the big old presses was disdain - having left behind machines that could print 10,000 or more impressions an hour - why would anyone ue a press that might only print one... by hand...

Two awards in two years are aready leading to recognition in the exacting and competitive field of sculpture.
